Soap and water are out. Soap contains alkalies, usually in the form of sodium that interferes with the skin’s ability to hold in water. Using soap cleanses your skin but strips off moisture, which can lead to excessive dryness and premature wrinkles. Facewashes are milder and contain special properties such as oil-control and pore-reducing elements.
How to choose?
• Oily, shiny skin is prone to blackheads and pimples and so it’s best cleansed with a foaming wash that purifies.
• Dry skin feels taut and has no shine or open pores. Cleansing milk is ideal for this skin type.
• Combination skin has an oily T-zone on the face. The skin in this area appears to have large, open pores and the cheeks are usually normal to dry.
• Mature skin loses its elasticity. Some lines may be evident on the surface of the skin and has a tendency to be dry. This type of skin is best suited to a cleansing cream or rich cleansing milk which also helps nourish and moisture skin.
